Mid-pitch in the RCA-led furniture workshop

Imperial College Design Collective (ICDC) aims to showcase design in different forms, from toy design to city planning. This is done through weekly design workshops centred on specific themes or skills, and talks given by design experts from industry and academia. Examples include the designers from Genesis Bikes, Waugh Thistleton Architects, Simon Manchipp of SomeOne, Miles Pennington of the Royal College of Art and public space artist Andrew Shoben.

As one of the founding members, I help organise workshops and talks at University, as well as trips to relevant exhibitions and design offices. I am also in charge of the social media side of ICDC, and create posters for our events.

Molehunt - monitoring skin health using open source AI

Molehunt was created as a demonstration project to showcase the practical applications of Google's open-source MedGemma AI models. The goal was to make a simple and accessible tool, leveraging latest open-source multi-modal AI models, that could be useful for everyday health monitoring.

Key Features:
AI-powered mole analysis
Interactive 3D body mapping for mole tracking
Secure data storage and privacy-first design
Professional-grade export functionality for healthcare providers
Mobile-optimized responsive design using React and Tailwind CSS

Tech stack:Frontend: Built with React and TypeScript, styled using Tailwind CSS for a modern, responsive UI.3D Visualization: Uses React Three Fiber (a React renderer for Three.js) to display and interact with a 3D human model. The model was modified in Blender and exported for web use.Backend: Supabase provides secure authentication, database, and file storage for user moles and logs.AI Analysis: Mole images are analyzed using the medgemma-4b-it model (from Google DeepMind) using custom prompts, deployed on Vertex AI on Google Cloud Platform. The app calls a secure cloud function to run the model and return results.

User flow
Project background:In July 2025, I saw that Google DeepMind released their new open-source medical model, MedGemma. I wanted to see how it worked, so I decided to build a lil product called Molehunt 🟣.It's a web app that lets you analyse and track moles on your body using the medgemma-4b-it model. I also had some fun with the UX and built a fully interactive 3D body model (all in React and TypeScript) so you can pinpoint exactly where a mole is and monitor it, with the AI analysing its current state, and any changes over time. I’ve also built a secure sharing + PDF export facility so that you can give these details to healthcare professionals. Not exactly the sexiest application, but healthcare stuff rarely is. My goal was to build something useful while learning how to take these powerful new models from a research paper to a practical application. I think it’s interesting that AI could make health tracking more accessible and interactive - mole mapping is not a super accessible thing to do regularly, and tools like this could make it easier for people to stay on top of their health.Like some of my other recent projects, it was also quite fun to build, and I learnt a lot about 3D web stuff and AI integration using Google’s Vertex AI APIs. For those interested, I put some details about the full tech stack on the ‘About’ page.Check it out here: https://molehunt.app/

Elvie Trainer, charging case and exercise app. Winner of the 2016 Red Dot Award in Product Design.

Elvie is a multi-award winning London-based startup aiming to revolutionise women's personal wellness through technology and a human-centred design approach.

Their first product is a wearable women’s healthcare device called Elvie Trainer. With one in three women having stress urinary incontinence (SUI) issues at some point, and with 50% of women over 50 having prolapse, the pelvic floor (or kegel) muscles are a very important yet overlooked set of muscles. However, physical activities and life events, like impact sports, pregnancy, and giving birth weaken these muscles and lead to these issues.

Elvie Trainer aims to be a safe, lifestyle-fitting solution to guide, correct and visualise kegel exercises in realtime - providing the crucial biofeedback required for effective and compliant exercise.

As a mechanical, design + software engineer, my main responsibilities involved developing the Elvie trainer with emphasis on design for manufacture, testing procedures, sensor characterisation, software algorithm development, user experience analysis and user-testing data analysis.

Contributed to one of the patents on motion-sensing, two successful grant applications to InnovateUK, and leading the R&D in new sensor development and their potential application in healthcare solutions of the future. Elvie has been highlighted in the JWT Future 100 Trends Report for 2016, and have won many accolades since for its work in the women’s tech industry.

Studio XO is a London-based fashion / technology company; it has previously done work for artists such as Lady Gaga, Azealia Banks and Arcade Fire, and featured in Richard Nicoll's LFW SS15 show.

In this project, I designed and integrated a range of wireless sensors. These sensors read biometric data from the human body - such as heartrate and the ‘emotional state’ - and metrics from a car in order to project the relationship between the driver and the machine.

Project used in an advertisement for the Infiniti 2015 Q70L.

Using a TI Sensortag (bottom right of picture) to collect realtime temperature, humidity, pressure and vibration data at the Daniel Avery 'Divided Love' session [24/02/15]

Boiler Room is an organisation that hosts intimate live music sessions all around the world, and is a pioneering music broadcaster, with over 1.5 million active subscribers.

Following the relatively conceptual output of work at Studio XO, I was curious to see if it was possible to discretise other things that some would argue could/should not be quantified - namely the 'vibe' of intimate music events.

Boxed All-stars Boiler Room Session [22/07/14]

Following some 'field research' at some of these events, I have identified a range of sensors that I think could cumulatively detect changes in the general atmosphere of the Boiler Room sessions, and I am currently in the process of analysing the type of data obtained from these sensors. The next step is to deploy this array of sensors at Boiler Room events for further analysis and feedback.

The aim of the 'vibe sensor' is not to quantify how much of a good/bad time participants are having, but rather to reflect the room itself and feed into, for example, the background visuals of such events.
